STACKS FAMILY COTTAGE
Atop the Cliffs of Moher

ABOUT
Be our guest in an award-winning (Irish Architects, Best Cottage Design, 1991) traditional Irish cottage high atop the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most dramatic coastal landscapes, overlooking Galway Bay, the Aran Islands, and the Atlantic Ocean. The original structure was a flagstone house built in the early 1800s and abandoned as a dwelling in the 1850s during the famine. From there it fell into ruin until the current cottage was rebuilt in 1991 by the Stacks and Satterthwaite families using the stones from the original cottage.
It is situated on, with direct access to, the Wild Atlantic Way, a 1600-mile coastal walking route that winds its way from the Inishowen Peninsula in the North to Kinsale in the South.
The cottage comfortably sleeps eight with four en suite bedrooms, each with two twin beds. The kitchen is ready for cooks and includes a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, kettle, dishwasher, and more. The cottage has a washing machine and a dryer, as well as an ironing board and iron. Towels, linens, hair dryers, and extra toiletries are provided. The cottage has internet, however, the signal can be spotty due to the cottage’s location. There are two peatburning fireplaces in the living room and dining room and wall-mounted heating units in every room. The cottage has a large selection of games, puzzles, and books from Irish authors and there is no tv on purpose. Additionally, it is well stocked with wax jackets, boots of all sizes, wool sweaters, and walking sticks. The kitchen and all bathrooms are newly renovated.
A five-day minimum stay is required for friends and friends of friends.
